How often do you run from battles?
post=95071post=94853Good......because anyone that runs away from battle lacks experience......literally.
I used to run from a lot of battles but since then have realized my stupidity and laziness and now I fight almost every battle, as painful as it sometimes can be.
Haha...I envy that pun. Really whenever I used to run from battles I wasn't that into RPGs and so I didn't respect their nature. But that was a long time ago.

What Makes Stereotypical jRPGs Terrible?
That's true...I think the massive army of FFVII fans could easily outnumber the amount of FFII or IV fans, but that's another subject. What's sort of funny, though, is the same game (FFVII) started the whole wytte hayre is teh evilz!! stereotype as well. <AhemSephiroth> Square must feel good about themselves.
What Makes Stereotypical jRPGs Terrible?
post=94835post=94834That's Cloud's popularity's fault.
Oh, and for some reason the main character having blonde hair in combination with having a sword thing bothers me.
Yeah, but it still makes you wonder why the stereotype wasn't white hair or something considering both Firion and Cecil had white hair (I think) and those were real popular games back then.
What Makes Stereotypical jRPGs Terrible?
"Oh, dear, what ever am I doing?"
...
The things that really bother me are bad voice acting, the cast of characters being typical teenagers without unique personalities, the whole "destined heroes" thing as before mentioned, and of course, the word "power" being spammed to no end. Oh, and for some reason the main character having blonde hair in combination with having a sword thing bothers me.

Naming Conventions - Characters, Spells, and More
I mostly name my characters names that either probably haven't been used more than three times in the history of mankind, or just a name that is very obscure that I like a lot and think suits the character. As for places, they're mostly just random meshes of letters that sound cool. Yeah.
Most of the time my names (for characters) sound like last names, but it seems to fit pretty well.

Action RPGs
post=90376
WoW has neither
a) action
b) roleplaying
also, it is not a
c) game
WoW is
d) RETARDED
Lolx. I think an Action RPG is like Secret of Mana or Brave Fencer Musashi, even though I'm normally not allowed to speak those words in my house (kidding, doesn't apply to SoM).
Would you consider the Elder Scrolls games to be ARPGs, though? I mean, I can imagine that, but it seems a little more RPG-ish than most ARPGs. I don't know.
Which version?
VX. The problem is because I wouldn't use VX RTP in a million years, I always want to use sprites that generally don't take up an entire tile; thus it looking distorted because when your character moves, it looks like he stops three feet away from an object. Basically 'cause the graphics are all like down-sized two times...meh, this is when a Pixel Movement will be my savior.
Voice acting in games
post=90307post=90303There are tons of people who do it for free, and do it well with good equipment. When I was really into doing flash movies I found a message board online of voice actors that mostly do pro-bono work. You just go and post the info about your project, characters needed, and descriptions of what their voices should sound like. I got dozens of auditions for one flash animation, I had so many I had to turn a bunch of people away.
I think the main problem is that RPG makers don't have access to people who would be good voice actors, are good voice actors, or would be willing to do it in the first place.
Oh, wow. I've never tried asking for voice help, and don't need to, but I might try it now that I read your post.
Worst. Game. Ever.
Oh my lord, Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing...I just can't explain it enough. This and E.T. 'Nuff said.
I think looking up a Big Rigs review or just seeing a video should explain it. I mean, you can't even call it a game. But there's no sense in explaining all the bad things about Big Rigs, 'cause I could write a book...
